Maxence DUAULT was born in Rennes (France) and developed from a very early age a passion for higher education and international studies.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in international business law from the University of Rennes 1, then a Master's degree in ‘History, Societies and Cultures’ from the University of Rennes 2. At the same time, he ran holiday and leisure centres activities for young people in France and abroad for more than ten years.
In 2005, and in parallel with his second Master’s degree, he embarked on his career as a lecturer in law and economic geography at the ‘Institut Européen de Formation’ of Rennes.
In 2008, he joined the Cooperation and Cultural Action Department (SCAC) of the French Embassy in the Czech Republic as regional coordinator and participated in the implementation of Franco-Czech academic programs. In particular, he was in charge of the Franco-Czech Master’s degree in Public Administration at the Faculty of Economics of Masaryk University (Brno), where he also gave lectures. Additionally, he was responsible for representing the French Embassy in dealing with local partners (companies, universities, public institutions) in Moravia.
He joined ESA in 2011 as an expert commissioned by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE) and assumed the functions of Deputy Director, in charge of Academic Affairs. He initially organized the financial model of ESA programs, before overseeing the reform of academic governance. He supervised the preparation for the AMBA international accreditation, which was granted to ESA in 2014. ESA then became one of only two institutions in the Middle East to be AMBA labeled. Being responsible for international affairs and for the development of ESA programs, he assumed thereafter increasing responsibilities with the School’s academic and institutional partners and coordinated the implementation of most of the strategic projects initiated by the General Direction of ESA. He also supervised the reform of ESA programs, negotiated a partnership with SDA Bocconi and lead the implementation of new training courses, such as the Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) in partnership with ESSEC BS, or the Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship (MENT) in partnership with HEC Paris.
He was appointed General Manager of ESA in December 2019.
